The final race of the road season was held on Saturday afternoon in warm and windy conditions. The smallest field of the road season turned out but riders were keen to take on the Parkers Road circuit without arm or leg warmers for a change.
New rider Aaron Hickey showed the field a clean pair of heals leading from start to finish in a show of strength. After a spell from racing, Tim St Quentin showed he had been doing some work riding strongly for a second place finish. Paul Rettke coming home in 3rd place to cap off a great season. Fastest time going to up and coming rider Mark Kelly.
Juniors raced over either 1 or 2 laps. Mackeely Brown winning the 2 lap event, Bryce Bridger the single lap.

Donald Wilson Winter Aggregate
The Spring Handicap saw the culmination of the 2013 Donald Wilson Winter Aggregate. Former Olympian and Australian Road Race Champion Don who the series is named in honour of was on hand to crown this year’s winner, Mark Turnely.
By Mark’s own admission he wasn’t the best rider but his consistency and dedication to racing throughout the year saw him come out on top. Mark was extremely humble and honoured to win the title. The aggregate title has always been held in high esteem at GCC. Mark’s chances were nearly lost before the start with a flat Di2 battery. There were a few nerves moments before the start but new battery 30 seconds before the start averted disaster.
2nd & 3rd placing going to Nathan Townsend and Paul Rettke respectively. Nathan saw his chances deflate under a flat tyre on the second lap of the race. This untimely mechanical a cruel blow as he came into the last round as the leader. Paul’s outstanding year on the road was capped off with his 3rd place finish.
Many thanks to Don and Will Wettenhall of Swisseye for their generous donation of some high quality sunglasses for the series winner.
Congratulations to Club Champion Tom Paton who is the newly crowned Australian Masters 3 Road Race Champion. Tom won the 95K road race in a sprint finish in Goulburn on the weekend. The M3 road race being the quickest race of the weekend at 39+kph avg speed. No doubt Tom would have been a big contributor to the fast pace.
