Road Race Season Pass

After the popularity of the Summer Season Pass we have reintroduced this concept for the Road Race season between April and October. Once again the season pass will see you pre-entered into all events GCC host on the Road Race Calendar and preclude you from having to do race day marshalling duty. The Season Race Pass represents extraordinary value for money – there are 16 races in the calendar, so members will save hundreds of dollars. Purchase Road Race Season Pass » Alternatively, members can continue to enter and pay on a casual basis.  Race entry fees are listed below: Senior Men $120  ($170 with transponder) Women $60 Juniors $60 Family $180   Note that holders (GCC Members) of a Senior […]

Victorian Junior and Masters criterium championships

Victorian Junior and Masters criterium championships Saturday just past saw the first running of the Victorian Junior and  Masters criterium championships, by GCC at Eastern Gardens. There was a lot of hard work done by club members and it showed, with a great day of racing had by all. The weather was kind, with a glorious morning tending windy after lunch, which caused a few issues with some emergency folding of the marquee’s, but didn’t affect the racing. Leigh Clifford, 3rd Masters 1 Grant Blake, 3rd Masters 5 The standard of the event was very high, with several Australian title holders competing. GCC had a pretty good showing, with quite a few of our masters turning up and taking home some medals. […]

Summer series update

With the overhaul of the Summer 2014/15 race calendar and the introduction of the Summer Race Series and Summer Race Pass, the ambition of the club was to provide an alternative to the usual summer crit racing offering. Scratch races, handicaps and the Hell of the Surfcoast coupled with crits – all the while ensuring that no member would be required to marshal during the sunny weather and that Dan Wilson actually has a chance to get out and race. A massive thank you to all who have supported the Series, as we can already report it has been a success. Evening crit racing at ‘Belmont Island’ has seen terrific turn out. Racing the shorter, southern, loop all grades have […]

Racing Wrap

Tri Series Round 1 Round 1 of the Tri Series with Colac and Ballarat was raced on the weekend. Gail winds, rain and even snow, as reported by the locals the day before had passed and a perfect day for racing was had. Light winds and bright sunshine were enjoyed by all riders on the Meredith circuit. A strong presence of Geelong riders in B & C grade ensured Geelong heads in to round 2 at Dereel hosted by Ballarat with a commanding 18 point lead over BSCC. How it happened After just returning from his Belgium adventure Nick Squillari, a strong supporter of club racing wasted no time in strapping on a number. Along with Kris Hink they were GCC’s […]

Cataloguing the Geelong Cycling Club’s memorabilia collection

The club is working towards creating a public online presentation of the club’s memorabilia on the Victorian Collections website. The recent local Government announcement of new Club rooms to be built for the Geelong Cycling Club adjacent to the crit track on Belmont Common was greeted with great enthusiasm.  Thanks must go to those who spent a great deal of time on putting a submission together which has resulted in this terrific outcome.  We will soon have a wonderful facility as ‘home’ to the many activities which the GCC run through the year.  It will also be a great location to display and house the large collection of memorabilia which the club has accumulated since its inception.  These items are […]
